エジソンの発明品の中で「キネトスコープ」は偉大な失敗作かも知れない。確かに、イーストマンと共同でフィルムを開発し、撮影機を作り、この一人用映写機に映した映像は当時人気を呼び、アメリカにキネトスコープパーラーが生まれたが、スクリーンに投影する映画「シネマトグラフ」の発明はフランス人のリュミエール兄弟に譲ることになったからだ。しかし、箱の中に写った映像を初めて一人で覗いたときの驚きと興奮は想像に難くない。マッドマンの世界では、このキネトスコープを覗く楽しさを少し体験できるでしょう。（松田利典）

He developed a film in cooperation with Mr.Eastman and made the first movie camera, and the picture on this projector was popularity in those days, and ” The kinetoscope parlors” were born in U.S.A., but this is surely because he had given in the invention of the movie to reflect on screen to “cinematograph” of French Lumière brothers. However, surprise and the excitement when people looked alone in the picture coming out in this box for the first time are easy to imagine.
